| Personal History | Marina was born on Betazed to a Betazoid mother and Trill father. One of the first successful Trill hybrid pregnancies, though her mother's pregnancy wasn't an easy one, resulting in an emergency delivery for Marina. Growing up aboard various Starships and Starbases, as well as going back and forth to Trill, she went wherever her parents Starfleet careers took them. As a child there wasn’t total certainty as to whether Marina would develop much in the way of Betazoid abilities, but she has proven that she is as strong as any other half Betazoid where her empathic senses are concerned. She is also a touch, and line of sight telepath. Growing up Marina showed an interest in learning for a career in Starfleet, she became a trainee aboard her father’s Starship and excelled in her learning. At the age of sixteen she applied to enrol at Betazed University as a Psychology student. Upon graduation from the University she was accepted into Starfleet Academy, thanks to sponsorship from a colleague of her father's. During her four years at the Academy Marina excelled in her studies, she was a well liked student and a natural in Operations Management as well as her Counselling studies. She graduated four years later with honours. It was during her second assignment aboard the USS Charleston that she would have willingly volunteered to become host to the Vaal symbiont, but being a half Trill she had no choice but to watch the symbiont come within a whisker of death before the ship finally reached an available host. Luckily Vaal survived. Marina is excited and nervous about accepting her first assignment as Chief Counsellor aboard Starbase Frontier. |
