Mission:
Lockdown
Location: Mess Hall
Timeline: Prior to lock down
The mess hall was packed. Of course it was. Not that Ki'ana minded the crowd at all, actually, the more alive a place was the better in her opinion. She was quite pleased to see personnel from either faction intermingling around her. The Bajoran whom she saw eagerly headbutting his Klingon friend in the corner was taking the whole interracial mixing thing a bit far, maybe, but it was nice to see, at least.
People didn't pay her too much attention as she walked into the mess hall, ordered dinner, sat and tucked in. The mountain of fried rice on her plate was most certainly bigger than what most humanoids would eat, but for her people keeping up their energy was one of the most important things to do. Ki'ana glanced around, content to people-wat6ch for the time being.
Vep Ka noticed the individual taking in the people around her; quite content it seemed. This is a point of curiosity, a new race to her; being alone herself what could it hurt to expand her knowledge, plus as an Orion she did like meeting new people, the Hostess in her.
In a fine Klingon dress cut shorter above her knee the sash around her waist had her ceremonial Mek'Leth on her left and the extending rod sheathed on the right The armored ankle boots with chain-mail decorating them. Her hair past the shoulder , swept up on the left held by a sea shell silver comb.
Timing her movements in time with the panning of the woman's surveying of the crowd; appearing at the empty chair when her field of vision is in Vep Ka's direction.
"Hello, I am Vep Ka of the Empire, mind if I join you." She gave that bright warming smile that comforted other as only an Orion can with a slight sparkle the way the light caught her eyes. "I am new to the station and ... why let someone else be alone in a place like this?"
When Ki'ana had finished picking her jaw off the floor (figuratively, of course) she smiled and indicated the seat across from her. "I am new as well, friend! Please, sit- my name is Ki'ana." She said. The Orion was stunning, of course, in a sort of warrioress way - and her sultry voice certainly lent to her charm. Practised, maybe, to let people at ease around hee. A valuable tool for a warrior of the Empire, shortly before she felled them in battle, maybe. Or slit their throats and skipped that part entirely. "I take it you've not quite had the time to explore all the stations facilities yet?"
"What Humans call the 'Nickle tour' of the place." Vep Ka reply while shaking her head. "Shown the Captain's office, the Operations Center , Conference rooms, Intel Offices and my Quarters."
She looked Ki'ana in the eyes.
"The Tour Guide kept pointing out 'the closest 'Powder Rooms' along the route. They were not munitions but Rest Rooms. I find Federation labels to be misleading." She chuckled. "And I did enough of a mini tour of my own to get the basic lay of the station." Smiling across the table. "Have you more expansive tour of the station Ki'ana?"
"Oh, humans do use some rather unusual terms to describe things don't they?" Ki'ana giggled. Heat rose to her cheeks slightly as she looked the Orion in the eyes. For a moment she forgot how to breathe... just for a moment. "Oh, um. I've had time to explore on my own outside of the major areas, yes. I could show you around if you like." She offered, somewhat more shyly than before. A walking tour with Vep Ka didn't seem so bad, especially if it meant getting to know her a little better.
"That is very kind of you." Vep Ka agreed to the offer. "Walking alone as a female in some areas I am told is not a good idea and two of us might dissuade any unwanted attention our way as we look around." She winked. "I do not get enough of the thing called 'Girl Time working with Klingons a majority of the time."
SMiling brightly as she spoke.
"Do you like shopping?" She asked. "I find replicated things a bit scratchy, I like obtaining the softer real materials and clothing." She hesitated. "I-if you do not mind while we are out?"
Ki'ana beamed. "Why would I mind? I would love to get a few new things for my wardrobe! And possibly some food - I hear a stall on the Promenade sells excellent jumja sticks." After a brief pause her smile became a bit more sheepish. "Maybe you could help me pick out something to wear? I do quite like purple. And red."
"We could do the clothes shopping." Vep Ka agreed. "Also there are Sparklie Merchants to get little accents." The Orion was beaming. "Most of those I work with 'if it is not combat ready, no need." Giggling a little. "Klingons spend more time comparing the tinsel strength of daggers that getting matching earrings."
"Well, I suppose we'll have to change that, shan't we? In your case, at least." Ki'ana smiled and leaned across the table. "Well then. What does an Orion serving the Klingon Empire do in her free time, apart from wander into eating halls and charm strangers?" Instantly she felt heat creep to her cheeks; she wasn't normally one to flirt, but somehow it felt quite right. "I'm not much - I read or cook or do sports, heh."
"Get pretty things... to wear" Vep Ka stated quickly. "I have during some time on Earth found Tennis a good sport," SHe flushed a little more green. "I like the dresses they wear to play and the agility to move in the confines of the court is a workout." Adding a small smile. "Not looked upon well, a weak Human game and not combat enough for My fellow officers and friends in the empire. I sneak off to Holo-suites to play." Looking up with concern. "You can keep that secret right my Friendly One?"
"Of course I can. Don't worry - your secret's safe with me." Ki'ana smiled back at her with a playful wink. "I'll even play with you if you want - you know my name, of course. You'll reach me at my PADD. So." She stood up, plate of fried rice mostly eaten save a little at the very bottom. "Shall we walk? I don't think any of your colleagues will question us hanging out together." She suggested, nodding at the mess hall exit.
"Excellant idea." Vep Ka said as she also rose. "Need walk off all this good food, the Federation does have better tastes in food than a Bird of Prey I can tell you." Her food not staining the plate. "On a station I will be able to sneak more games... be warned." She smiled. "Sometimes my People do not realize how really social we Orions are and our need to have companionship and just enjoy company."
"I'll take that warning seriously. I might even come along if invited - we'll see how things go." Ki'ana smiled and led the way out.
