Mission: Blockade
"3... 2... 1..." Ki'ana grunted as she set the barbell down at last. Ever since she'd switched to counting backwards from her lifting goal she'd found that her performance had skyrocketed, for which she was extremely pleased. She smiled tiredly at her spotter, one of her fellow scientists, who gave her a thumbd up before departing the gym.
The Kelpien's workout attire was soaked through with sweat by now. She sighed as she crossed the gym to get to her water bottle, which she sipped from gratefully...
Twyla was just finishing her workout when she noticed the Kelpien. “Looks like you’re serious about what you’re doing there.” Replied Fox.
Ki'ana stiffened and turned around to face the speaker. The tension in her body melted away when she saw the other woman, though, and she smiled at her, lilac eyes gleaming. "It's progress." She said, placing a hand on her hip. "I have to get stronger somehow, don't I? My name is Ki'ana. And yourself?" Not all Klingon, she reckoned. Half, perhaps, judging by the way her forehead ridges were less prounounced than that of other Klingon women's.
“My name is Twyla, like Twilight. Pleasure to meet you.” Replied Fox
"Twyla. So you weren't raised on Qo'nos, then?" Ki'ana guessed. "I've never heard a Klingon name like that before - though of course I'm willing to be proven wrong." She said with a smile. "I assume you're new just as I am, and you've only just begun to explore the station and find out where everything is?"
“Pretty much. But I took a few days before I reported for duty to find my way around.” Said Twyla
"And how's that process going?" Ki'ana added cheerfully. "Well, I hope! You seem relatively well-adjusted to me! Finding it enjoyable?"
“Yes well, you say that. But if I didn’t have the gym to work out my stress, I don’t know what I’d do. This place is a bit smaller than what I’m used to.” Said Twyla ]
"'What you're used to'? This gym is already quite big! I am quite curious - where've you been in terms of assignments, such that this lovely room is small to you?" Ki'ana asked, evidently curious...
The questioning was starting to get on her nerves. “Maybe I didn’t mention it, but I’m an intelligence officer. We just met, and I strongly believe that Intel like you’re asking me for is earned not told Willy Nelly. I apologise if that rubs you the wrong way, it’s just the way it is. When you know me better you will understand.” Replied Twyla to the line of questioning.
"I'm just being curious, that's all. But alright. I'll leave you alone for now. My apologies." Ki'ana smiled at her and put some space between them to return to her routine. Maybe Twyla just wasn't used to people asking about her and that was honestly fine by her. It'd taken her years to get to the point she was now; as an intelligence officer it'd probably take far more.
