Mission: Blockade
Location: USS Kingfisher & IKS Mo'Qreh

Previously on Star Trek Frontier:

"Kingfisher , this is Vep Ka... " adding an image of the wing piece with house Duras upon it. "Be advised the attacking force has ships from the House Duras." She relay. "Be in guard for less than an Honorable fight." She warned. "There is a trail now to follow later."

Vep Ka targeted the piece of the wing to be retrieved after the battle. Even rounders had identifying materials, the craft of the emblems have slight distinctions that narrow what branch of the house and even in cases names of the ship and Commander.

With this simple piece she would know when the Bird was constructed and an Intel file to give details. One step closer to the name of this ... attacker and maybe known associates to track down?

And now the continuation...

USS Kingfisher

The Duras ships suddenly stopped firing. "Captain, they are hailing us," the officer at ops reported.

Kagami stood up. "Open a channel. Make sure to broadcast to the M'oQreH." She commanded. If there was a way she could deal with this without any more losses, she would take that over violence anyway.

"This is Captain..." she was cut off by the big burly Klingon who appeared on the viewscreen.

"I don't care who you are Captain." His gruff voice boomed. "I know you command that abomination of a Starbase that you 'share' with the Empire!" He narrowed his eyes at her. "The house of Duras will not sit idly by and let the Federation 'assimilate' our culture. You explore, and we conquer! That is the true Klingon way!"

"If you'd allow me to explain our mission..." Kagami responded before she was cut off again by the Klingon Commander.

"No! I do not care about your 'mission'! It is clear that the Empire has become weak!" He growled at her. "You will return to your 'starbase' and stay there! And you will stay there!"

Kagami crossed her arms. "And why exactly should we do as you say? You're not in charge of us. Why should we do as you say?"

The Klingon Commander gave her a toothy grin. "Because, until the High Council restores my house and a place on the High council. I will blockade ALL ships to your puny little base. Once my house has been restored I will reclaim strength and honour to the Empire. Starting with the destruction of your starbase and dissolving our alliance with The Federation!"

IKS M'oQreH

Vep Ka could hear no more, her beloved Empire would never succumb to the likes of Duras. She cut into the feed.

"I am Vep Ka of the Empire, I vow upon the Honor I have higher than your own that I will have that seat with My Masters , a seat on that counsel if for no more reason that to keep your Dishonored House and name to be no more than a House of filthy Targs left out in the cold darkness , not even your shadow upon the Empire." She declaired. "This is my Blood Curse upon your House, or I will have your head upon a spike. Which ever my Master desire. This I swear by Kahless."

Tormek stepped directly in front of the viewscreen despite there being no visual feed to the traitor and his legacy. "And I am Commander Tormek. Son of B'ceiK, of the House of Torn," he added to his crew member's denunciation. "I have already destroyed one of your warships and I will do the same to the rest...and savor every moment!" His eyes sharpened while he attempted to maintain an aura of Federation 'diplomacy'. "Withdraw now, and I will forget your family's new transgressions toward the Empire..."

Vok’Ka spat a blistering curse as the House of Duras’s crest came into view on the screen. The audacity of the traitors to show their colors caused a molten-hot fire to ignite in his belly. Of all the houses in the Empire, Duras was the least respected, least honorable den of cowards. He quickly shifted his focus back to the weapons console, ensuring that his vessel was ready to fire another volley if needed.

Duras began to laugh, a deep belly laugh which boomed through the speakers. After a few moments he stopped and returned his gaze to Tormek. "You seem like a man with honour," he said. "However. I need you and your Federation 'pets' to get my message to the council. But, you shall not be leaving"

He waved a hand lazily in the air. Several more Klingon ships began to cloak, the House of Duras's crest painted proudly on their hulls.

Vok’Ka swore again, loudly, as the signatures began coalescing on his console.
”Captain! I’m detecting seventeen B'rel, four more Vor'Cha, eight K'Tinga, and two Negh'var decloaking, dead ahead,” Vok’Ka reported, the bile rising in his throat.

He instinctively readied the shields and weapons…for what good they would do. But what a glorious death it would be, he thought to himself. Encouraged by the thought, Vok’Ka’s blood began to sing and he steeled himself for the combat to come.

"We know to whom we have the honor of this Battle." Vep Ka said. "These ship are branding the House Duras emblem on their hulls clearly." She took a scan of each and every vessel that she could get an image to identify later through the Intel database; the recorded history of them and who is whom in that zoo? Who was Duras and who are the 'Fair Weather Supporters while Duras has a strong hand?

USS Kingfisher

Kagami had crossed her arms as she listened to the Duras Commander.

"Captain, more Klingon ships decloaking. They have a small fleet out there!" The ops officer reported.

"How many?" Kagami asked.

"Seventeen B'rel Birds of Prey, four more Vor'Cha, Eight K'Tinga Class and two Negh'var Class," he reported his voice becoming more nervous and shaken as he continued.

"That's more firepower than I expected..." Kagami said.

"Commander Tormek. I would suggest we regroup at Frontier." She said. "We're outgunned here, there's no honour in committing to suicide at the hands of the enemy."

Silence ensued across the comm channel for a lengthy moment before Tormek eventually replied in a most-dissatisfied tonality, "The House of Duras possesses the superior tactical advantage...I concur. We must withdraw and regroup for a counter-offensive, immediately!"

"Helm, take us back to Frontier. Nice and easy, don't make it look like we're attacking." Kagami ordered.

"Aye, nice and easy," Kayne said, "adjusting course and firing thrusters." His hands glid across the console as he put in the commands

"Commander Tormek. Gather the crew in Main Operations once we arrive. We need to discuss this with Starfleet Command and the Klingon Defence Force," she said turning her attention to the Kingfishers viewscreen.

A grumbling and semi-disgruntled reply sounded from the Klingon captain who wasn't shy to make his contempt for any such 'discussions' to be known to his Starfleet counterparts. "I will do as you instruct, but this is a mistake."

IKS M'oQreH

"We should not teport rhis immediatly." Vep Ka suggested. "Our withdrawal should stay unrelated to the reports, we do not need the Empire coming to help us right now Commander, that would be bad."

Frantic typing had Vep Ka sending a special code to the nearest subspace relay, licking it down for no out going g transmissions with 'Her' permission code. The Cengeti programmer had given her the simple virus codes to Federation Comm systems, it had been a game like the seld-destruct, but now it would help buy time and no panicking with signals home until a plan is formed.

That is the job of Intel, not let enemy plans progress.

Privately, Tormek concurred with the Orion. The involvement of the High Council or any prominent member of the government's leadership would only serve to exacerbate the situation even further. "Ensure our logs do not reach Qo'noS...even those from the Kingfisher," he ordered with narrow eyes. "The House of Duras has always been dishonorable and conniving. Perhaps they want us to reveal their recent victory to the High Council as a means of political leverage." He scowled then bared his teeth as he turned away from the main viewscreen to personally reflect on the important matter at hand. "Duras would not initiate such a blatant attack against our forces without political allies within the Great Hall. He cannot be trusted...and Captain Iz'mi is too naive to see this."

"No out-going transmission are already set." Vep Ka replied. "I encoded the nearest relay, only I can allow transmissions. " Looking at the Commander and a sinister smile. "I will see Master gets a better understanding of what she is unaware of."

Vok’Ka squinted his eyes in thought. What game was the Traitor playing here, he thought to himself. Some far-off, logical part of Vok’Ka’s brain made note of the fact that the warrior wouldn’t even allow himself to think the Traitor’s name, let alone say it, if he didn’t need to.

He turned back to his console and verified the numbers. How did such a traitorous mongrel like the one in front of the M'oQreH gather such an impressive fleet?

He heard the conversation between the Commander and the Orion Intel specialist and willed himself to keep his peace. He agreed with his commander’s assessment of the situation, but his discipline and bearing wouldn’t allow him to speak up unless he was engaged directly.

Instead, he contented himself with targeting the closest vessel that the M'oQreH could take on, in the case that a fighting retreat was required.

To be continued...
